Our Community
Kilcormac is the ‘Gateway to Lough Boora Discovery Park’, situated on the main N52 between Tullamore and Birr and nestled at the foot of the Slieve Bloom mountains. It is a great place to live and from which to explore all the midlands has to offer.
With a population of roughly 1,800 in the town and surrounding townslands, it is a very closeknit, active and warm community with an abundance of facilities and services to offer to both residents and visitors.
Connected through Community Spirit
The Kilcormac Development Association was set up in 1982 to act as an umbrella group and backbone of the community when it comes to the provision of community services and the enhancement of the community both physically and economically.
We are very lucky to have the thriving St. Joseph’s Community Centre which was built by the Kilcormac Development Association in 1988, and as well as having 5 employees, and supporting over 40 voluntary community groups, it offers services such as:

- Hall Hire
- Meeting Room Hire
- Bingo
- Senior Alert Scheme
- First Responders
- Parent & Toddler Group
- Croi Og – Active Retirement Group

We offer a full educational programme for our community with the following schools:
- Kilcormac Community Childcare – Pre school and Afterschool
- Scoil Mhuire agus Chormaic, St. Kieran’s Broughal and Scoil Bhride Ballyboy – National schools
- Colaiste Naomh Cormac – Secondary School
- Adult Education – OLDC, CE Training Programmes

Being active and spending our time well is a priority in our community and front and centre of that is Sport with many sporting organisations such as
